Thandi's Threads is hiring a part-time machinist / seamstress

Thandi's Threads is growing and we are finally at the point where I cannot cut, sew and run the business on my own anymore, so we are looking to bring on a skilled part-time machinist or seamstress to join our small studio in the Johannesburg CBD. This is a real opportunity to grow with a proudly local slow-fashion label that is getting a lot of love right now. What the role involves: sewing our knitwear and tailored pieces from patterns we provide, finishing work by hand where needed, quality-checking every garment before it ships because our reputation is built on that, and helping with small pattern adjustments as we develop new drops each season. What we need from you: solid experience on both an overlocker and a straight-stitch industrial machine, a genuine eye for detail and neat finishing, reliability because our customers wait on these pieces, and the ability to work from our studio two to three days a week to start, with room to grow into more days as we scale. Experience with knit fabrics is a big plus. If you have your own industrial machine that is a bonus but absolutely not a requirement.
